Dairy-free formula

Supplementation with calcium and vitamin D helps to maintain calcium stores in the body. Calcium is responsible for much of the strength of bones and teeth, and also plays an important role in a variety of body processes, including muscle and nerve functioning and iron metabolism.

If dietary calcium is low, the body may take the calcium it needs from the bones, leading to brittle bones and possibly osteoporosis (a reduction in bone density). Vitamin D helps maintain serum calcium and phosphate levels and increases the active absorption of calcium ions in the intestine to increase mineralisation of bone.

Active Ingredients:
Active Ingredients Per Blackmores Bio Calcium Tablet: Calcium phosphate 570 mg Calcium hydrogen phosphate (equiv. to total calcium 350mg) 600 mg Vitamin D3 (Colecalciferol 2.5 mcg) 100 IU

Dosage:
Adults - Take 2 to 3 Blackmores Bio Calcium tablets daily with meals, or as professionally prescribed.

Children (from 6 years to 12 years) - We recommend Blackmores Celloid© Calcium Compound.

Children (under 6 years) - Only as professionally prescribed.

Warnings:
The Australian RDI for calcium is 800mg to 1000mg for women over 18 years and 1100mg to 1200mg (4 tablets daily) for women who are pregnant or lactating.

If taking tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, biphosphonates (osteoporosis drugs) or thyroid hormone separate doses by at least two hours. Calcium, zinc and magnesium may decrease the absorption and efficacy of these medications.

Consult your healthcare professional before use if taking verapamil. Calcium may decrease the activity of this medication.
