Marshmallow [Respiratory]. Marshmallow has a high mucilage content. It has been used historically for respiratory support and to soothe inflamed mucous membranes.
Marshmallow is primarily used as a soothing, spasmolytic herb. Marshmallow can assist in relieving inflamed, mucous membrane surfaces of the Gastro-intestinal tract. It is also popular as an expectorant for the respiratory system. Part of the herb used is the Root.
A traditional "mucilage" herb for the temporary relief of cough of bronchitis. Marshmallow is also an intestinal soother.
