For the relief of the discomfort of external haemorrhoids (enlarged varicose vein in the mucous membrane inside or just outside the rectum - also called piles).

Haemorrhoids produce varying degrees of pain, feelings of pressure, itching, irritation and a palpable mass. In women, the single most common cause is pregnancy.

Rationale

Aesculus (Horse chestnut): venous tonic. It helps tone the circulation system in venous congestion by improving the blood flow in eg varicose veins, haemorrhoids

Hamamelis (Witch Hazel): its chemical make-up tones blood vessels, improving haemorrhoids and varicose veins

Borago (Borage): it helps relieve varicose vein symptoms eg venous congestion

Calendula (Marigold): improves varicose veins and haemorrhoids

Equisetum (Horsetail): astringent and anti-haemorrhagic (due to Silica content)

Essential oil of Rosemary has a stimulating and toning effect on blood circulation

Because of its astringent qualities, this is also an excellent cream for itchy bites, etc.
