Caprylic acid is a short-chain fatty acid derived from coconuts. Discovered in the late 1930s, caprylic acid has been found to be a very effective antifungal agent, especially in the control and maintenance of normal healthy microorganisms in the digestive tract. Candidiasis is a yeast infection caused by Candida albicans, a microorganism which for various reasons including poor diet (refined sugars, processed foods, lack of fibre etc), inadequate hygiene, antibiotic and oral contraceptive use, hormonal changes, compromised immunity, stress etc., multiplies out of control and cause infections of the mucous membranes and the skin. We know these infections as intestinal Candida (Candidiasis), oral and vaginal thrush, jock itch, athletes foot and nappy rash.
